Captain’s Cove Marina was established in 1978 in the community of Ladner, in the city of Delta. It is a private corporation that provides variety of services.
The corporation was formed when Captain’s Cove Marina Development Group acquired a 217 acre property alongside the Fraser River. After careful planning and government approvals, the property was zoned for a residential area in excess of 1000 units, a golf course and expansion to the marina facilities. At present, the golf course, the marina expansion and over 500 residential units are in place.
Phase 1 of the residential component was completed in 1987. Phases 2 and 3 followed shortly in 1989. In 2001 the golf course was completed along with phases 4, 5 & 8. Phases 6 & 7 are underway. These are predominantly prime lots surrounding the beautiful golf course and overlooking the Marina and the Fraser River.
This neighbourhood is tucked in a quiet, secure and secluded community yet only minutes away from Ladner’s city centre. The environment is a very important part of this project. This is why every phase of the development was being carefully designed and monitored by highly qualified and talented professionals. The primary goal is to preserve the nearby wetland which is home to very valuable fish and wildlife habitat. In 1992, Fraser River Estuary Management Program awarded Captain’s Cove Marina with a development award recognizing the environmentally sustainable design of the Marina Garden Estates Project.
